    Chiappa Rhino

Anyone have any experience with the Chiappa Rhino? My BIL says he wants one and they do look interesting. I'm just wondering if there is any first hand experience with them in our membership.

It looks too BIG, weird, and the price is HUGE. I'd probably get a Ruger LCR in .357....probably 1/3 of the weight.

There is one to rent at my local range that I would like to try out but it is not high on my priority list.

Hey, your statement caused me to go look at a range where I know they have rentals, and guess what? They do have one too. That should make it easy for my BIL to find out whether he wants it for sure or not. And only costs $15 for the day's rental and whatever their going rate is for the ammo. I don't think they had one the last time I looked, but that was quite a while ago.

In response to your question regarding the Rhino.
I just bought last week, took it to the gun range and
had a blast. As advertised, it has minimal recoil for a
357 compared to other conventional revolvers.
    The accuracy it awesome.
    Grouped all my shots nicely.
The only downside is the holster that comes with the
gun. It sits too high and imprints badly.
I'm solving that problem by having my reliable holster
craftsman from CME Holsters make one for my Rhino.
Yes, its an expensive gun but well worth the money.

Be very, VERY careful that you don't use a "thumbs forward" grip (IMHO, the ideal grip for an autoloader) when firing a Rhino. It puts the last thumb joint at EXACTLY the WRONG spot. The escaping gases from the cylinder gap can cost you a digit.

Looks like an old thread back from the dead... but... I absolutely love my Rhino. Its my main carry gun. Have shot thousands of rounds through it and its just great. I'm highly considering getting a 4, 5 or 6 inch version sometime in the future.

Never fired one, but they sure look weird. Heavy, too.

Never fired one. Handled one at a gun show and they're not as cumbersome as they look. The other side of the coin. My LGS won't handle Rhinos. Quality control issues. I'm not trying to start anything with those of you who own Rhinos, just relaying what I was told. Take it FWIW.

They aren't heavy at all. A few parts are steel that need to be, but the majority of it is aluminum and quite light. The 2 inch weighs about just the same as a J frame snubby.
