I was doing a detail cleaning of the M&P and when I was taking the sear block out this little silver block that has a hole on one side and small spring that goes into it.
Can anyone tell me what the heck it is and what the heck it goes to?
Unless S&W recently changed things it's not the sear plunger, the sear plunger is round. Pre 2010 left - Post 2010 right.
Does your M&P have a thumb safety? It looks like the thumb safety plunger to me, goes in the left side of the sear block assembly.

Never mind I figured it out. It goes on the left side of the sear plate, really wasn't needed but I figured it out.
It wasn't the plunger, I got the weapon back together and now I can't figure out how in the heck it popped out
here is a photo (not mine) where it went
