    Weak hand

Words can be powerful. One thing we learned in my last class is don't call your hands your strong hand and weak hand. Use other terms such as your dominate hand and your other hand or non-dominate hand or other strong hand or something besides weak hand. Psychologically, calling it your "weak" hand sets up negative expectations in your mind and you set yourself up for failure.

At least he avoided the off-hand comments, in that regard.

Sounds like a useful tip: reminding a person to stay focused on the task of surviving the situation, no matter what it takes ... whatever tactic, either hand, any weapon (or weapon-less), any level of aggression in order to stop the threat.

I've always called them...left hand and right hand. Am I OK with that?

Wow. I never realized how my poor off-hand must feel! I'm amazed it hasn't gone off and committed a number of crimes due to its disparaged upbringing so I could sniff about how it was just turning its life around!

    Ya'll are killing me

Seriously though, hair-splitting minutia and getting wrapped around the axle on semantics do not continue to endear your trainer to me.

Ah, the joys of being ambi. I thank my parents daily. I'm a natural lefty that they tried to convert to a righty. I turned out mixed. But with handguns I'm equally proficient either way. I'm lucky enough to just be able to grab it and start shooting. I do have to practice a lot to ingrain muscle memory for things like releasing the safety on a 1911 and working the slide releases after a mag change. The processes are very different right handed and left handed. I also spend twice as much on holsters. I've got a righty and lefty version of just about every one.

When 'flying' .... you use your left hand on the controls and right hand for other things.... so, when I was driving my car, I started doing it left handed. It helped a great deal and became very easy to do. Most of it is practicing it to the point of getting comfortable with it.

This PC crappola is so . . . I can't even say it. A rose by any other name still smells as sweet; but it's still a dang rose.

But one hand is weaker than the other. The power of positive thinking will not change that reality.

    Hmmm.

Both of my hands are dominate.
