44mags and killing the gun fund

Deer season is coming and the hogs are here all the time. After taking my SPS tactical hunting last year, I decided to find something a little more woods carry friendly.

The first was this Ruger Super Blackhawk with holster.

A week later this Ruger Carbine with Leupold 3-9 got my attention. It needed a little TLC (split stock, filthy internals and screw stripped in cartridge guide plate).

Two weeks later, I found this one. NIB Winchester 94 (44mag) from a estate sale. The son lives in New York so everything was consigned locally.

Add two more plinkers and a crossbow to this and my weapon fund is looking like the National Treasury EMPTY.

You have a nice setup there. For a hand loader the 44 will do about anything you want. From casual target shooting to hunting bear.

    The gun fund?

Gun fund= disposable income stashed in the safe to keep it stocked.

    7.62x39 for deer and hogs?

    Hadn't considered it.

310 grain hard cast over a full house of h110 is bad medicine for hogs. However on the Marlins I think the rifling limits them to the 240 grain range. Awesome 44 collection you have there.

    Nice.
The hogs aren't standing a snowballs chance in hell down there with you there eh?

That 94 Winchester is awesome! On my wish list in the same caliber! Color me jealous.

There was a unfired 16" brushed chrome Trapper in the collection as well. I almost pulled the trigger on it too, but you can't buy them all.
