HUGE victory with anti gun spouse...

When I first got my CCW license my Wife was NOT happy. She said she didn't like me taking a gun places or having it on me around our kids.

To ease her fears I suggested that she go to the range with me and learn to handle and shoot it so she knew it wouldn't hurt her.

She had never handled a gun, and her parents are super anti. (They said I was not allowed in their homes if I was carrying.)

The first time I suggested she go shooting she yelled and actually cried. (Several other conversations ended the same way at later dates.)

Yesterday was my Birthday and she surprised me by telling me she wanted to go shooting. She was nervous at first but was grinning ear to ear after she shot about 70 rounds.

Congrats on the conversion! And kudos to her for stepping past her ingrained notions about guns and shooting.

We went to the mall afterwards and she was looking at a purse with two revolvers on it. I think she's hooked. LOL

Good Job!! I wish we could get all wives to come over. She deserves much credit for putting away her fears and not blindly following in the footsteps of mommy and daddy.

    BZ!!

Just wondering if you tried to take them on as well.

I'm glad it didn't take an "event" to change her mind.

Most excellent, and the smile on her face is proof positive!

Sometimes it take awhile for someone against firearms to see that unless they are employed in a SD situation, they actually are quite fun and can be addictive. I'd say you have her on a path that she will say, "should have done this years ago."

Awesome man, good job! And props to her for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new.

I've said it before, I would be skeptical that anybody could go to a range and safely put some rounds down range out of some qaulity firearms and not have fun!
One of my friends was calling some buddies and me "rednecks" for going shooting. Took him the next weekend, after a few magazines he was all smiles. He said he was wrong and that it was really fun.

You have an easy way to get out of going to the in-laws now. Most of the fear the antis have is due to lack of education about the subject they are against.

Stories like this give me hope. My wife is super-anti. She wouldn't even let me teach her gun safety with an airsoft pistol. I carry wherever I legally can, and she accepts that (athough she still hates it), but she hates my guns... maybe someday she will be converted.

It's amazing that people can be so afraid of things that they don't even have first hand knowledge of. So many people think that guns are evil and can randomly go off because they heard a story about a kid who was cleaning his gun and the gun just shot him. "It just went off."

Cool... I got my wife a Glock 17 last year. She has begrudgingly shot it at the range a few times; but generally has no interest in even handling the gun, yet less shooting it ... A little frustrating but "it is what it is...."

    Congrats to you!

My wife has shot many guns with me. None scare her. She called me at work one day and said "let's get a gun". I said "OK, if you insist". Then I got my first gun.
