Strange marking inside slide of new Kahr P9

Anyone have any idea why a brand new right out of the box P9 would have an "X" hand-inscribed inside the barrel hood on the slide?

It could mean absolutely anything. Want a best guess? Some factory fit person X marked it after they either fit a barrel to the slide or the slide to the frame or they completed some other related type of work on the slide.

Way back when I was doing custom electroplating I used to mark the parts that I did the prep work on with a tiny ***** punch mark in an inconspicuous location so that I could look at the job later on (if a job ever came back for any reason) and know for sure if I did that particular prep work or somebody else in the shop did it.

Well, I guess I can't say Pricckk Punch on the forum without getting *****

Everyone knows "X" marks the spot! Seriously though, it probably a way for them to insure a certain step in the fitting has been accomplished. I'll look at one of my Kahr this evening to see if they have a mark engraved on them.

Someone marked where they stopped for their coffee break?

You try to figure out where /you/ stopped on a line of a hundred identical parts.

Ha. I saw somebody last month use the expression "a ***** in his armor". ***** = chiinnkk.

    ***** : noun

    1. a crack, cleft, or fissure: a ***** in a wall.
    2. a narrow opening: a ***** between two buildings.
