Purchasing handgun while on prescription pain medicine?
I recently had surgery and am currently taking prescription pain medicine. Is there any restriction on purchasing a handgun while taking them? I can't remember from the last time I filled the form out. I won't be able to shoot it for some time, but with the election coming up and availability issues popping up all the time, I figured if I went in and found what I wanted, I may not want to wait.
Thanks!

Unless it is some drug that will affect your mood or some psychiatric drug, it shouldn't be a factor in your qualifying to buy any gun.

Everything seems to be a good idea on anaglesic's...I found this forum recovering from big time back surgury in 2011...when I came out of the haze, I was amazed at how my thinking was "colored" by pain pills...having said that, buying and owning handguns has always been a pleasure for me, look there is a 10 year "surplus" of handgun and long-guns in general, but only days of ammo...remember last election when ammo dried up on fears of suppression by the O's government ??? nothing says perssonel defense like a handgun..get some !!

Only if you do not have a prescription for them (illegal drug use).

Purchasing a boxed item doesn't equate to carrying a firearm, let alone a loaded one. Can't imagine any statute would preclude such a purchase, not even in communist nanny states.
Now, carrying a loaded firearm while "under the influence" of such things might well run afoul of some state statute, here and there. Know your statutes, for your state, before actually carrying.

Not just the laws (good point), but the laws are there because some people really get loopy on some meds. From experience, I could not tell I was that badly effected until afterwards, when I was asking "Did I really do that?"

As long as you are not an unlawful user, or addicted to drugs, then there is nothing stopping you from purchasing a gun.
