I've always liked the Marlin 60. The S&W 15-22 is real nice also, but haven't had enough time with it yet to say it is better than the Marlin 60. The Henry youth model lever action is sweet too, but not as nice as the Winchester 9422 that I used to have. Should have kept that one.

A Remington Tagetmaster built in the mid 1940s, single shot bolt action.
It is what I learned on, what my parents trusted me to go plinking with sans supervision, and
it still sits next to the bed. If nothing else I'll beat an intruder with it-- no plastic stock, real wood,
and heft enough to crack a skull; short enough to maneuver, and powerful enough to have punched
holes in many a Bernz0Matic cylinder.
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.
