So what should I get next?

I have an itch to get something else, but not really sure what. I currently have a SR9 (mainly HD), an SR9c (CCW and HD), and a SR22 (for practice). My current thoughts of things I could get are:

1.) Another handgun, probably in a .45 caliber for HD (but I'd probably get a compact so I could carry as well)
    2.) A rifle, either a lever action in a .357/.44 or something in a 5.56

As much as I want to get something, not sure I "need" to get anything so just curious what people recommend.

I voted for the AR and the larger caliber. .357 is a great caliber for handgun with lots of versatility, but it sounds like you need a long gun so I'd go AR or shotgun before another handgun.

I voted for the larger handgun, but I have an M&P 15 that I absolutely love.

I'm saving my money. I am speculating that there will be a 'bubble' in production with decreasing demand in about 4 to 5 months on ammo and firearms....

After all, every US maker is ramped up right now. In the near future, I am speculating that there will be a short plateau in production as demand adjusts.

At that point, since I am saving my money now, if that happens just in front of the coming inflation, I'll do much better on some key purchases, to add to what I have.

The big fear is, of course, that the Federal Govt basically outlaws, or more likely restricts, private firearms ownership in the next 3 years. Then, what is your current $$ in on Firearms and Ammon worth, without becoming an instant felon?

I say get the basics and hedge your bets, but have lots of ammo for barter.

I voted hold off and save, you have handguns covered but my next choice for home defense and overall use would be a shotgun.

I voted Rifle (lever action). I have handguns more than covered, a couple shotguns, and an M4. I've always been a huge fan of lever actions but only have two. My next purchase will be a Henry Big Boy, still undecided on caliber though I'm leaning .357 so I could also use .38's in it.

Edit: On second thought, the above was based on wants. Perhaps you should look into a shotgun for HD. It's just my personal opinion, but I think every home should have a shotgun in it.

You seems to have a stout Ruger theme going already. You NEED a new Ruger Scout Rifle .308 more than you can possibly imagine. Go. Right now. Time's a wastin'!

I, too, noticed the Ruger leanings. I think you definitely need more Rugers, perhaps an SR-556

AR is high on the ban list, if that happens. That is why I voted for it. My next suggestion would be a lever action rifle, such fun.

I didn't vote, but I think it would be a shame to concentrate only on guns suited for SD, or SHTF stuff.

Having said that, do you hunt? There is nothing like a big bore lever gun or M629 44 magnum. Do you reload? This can influence your decision too.

Preparing for war, zombies, and SHTF scenarios can be fun for a while, but it gets old, and so do the guns meant for it. Don't forget the fun factor, which can also be versatile.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Absolutely Gman! Self-defense is only a small part of what is a much larger and most enjoyable hobby for me.
