You guys clearly don't work in some first responder capacity because this has been an ongoing thing for a while. The idea isn't too prepare for real zombies, it's to prepare for generic emergency response such as riots or chemical attacks in a way that gets more people involved, same as why the CDC put out a zombie survival bon a while ago... Basic things you can use to prepare for any emergency response.
Yeah, being able to fight off real Zombie hordes is only a bonus!
