So sad for the family. Another points deduction for Taurus.

Wow, what a tragedy! Don't think I could ever pick up a handgun again if I were the cause of an accident like that.

Can't really blame it on the Taurus... None of the auto's I have have magazine disconnects. Glock 19, S&W 40, Shield 40, Shield 9, Para 1911, and yes, a PT709 Taurus.

    Horrible story.

    Horrible.
IDK why he was carrying a firearm out of the store, empty mag, with one still in the pipe.
Must be other variables as to what was going on and how he was handling the pistol.

    Tragic beyond compare.

wow..wow...wow..1 second of negligence..taking his son with him for some Daddy and Son time only not to return home. I wonder why he didn't safety check before he left the store...so many unanswered questions..praying for the family.

"CBS Station KDKA reports that when the gun went off, the boy was in a booster seat in a car while his father was backing out of a parking space."

I don't understand the above sentence at all...

I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow in the family right now. My heart truly breaks for them. But I am very confused as to what in the world happened.

He 'thought' the gun was empty.

Really?! This horribly tragic event and you're going with "it's god's will"? What a horrible god.

As for the shooting, so heartbreaking. I can't even imagine. Why in the world was his finger ever on the trigger? Why wasn't it cleared? I agree with a previous poster: load another one up because I couldn't live with that.

How did this guy manage to shoot his son? Obviously, we know he didn't properly safety check the gun but how did the trigger get pulled and how was it pointing at his sons chest? Too bad the child had to pay for his dad's incompetence with his life.

Most important is the subject of the tradedy. I can't imagine what is happening to the family. No legal punishment can compare to what the father must be going through. My prayers to the family.

I'm surprised by your Taurus statement. Normally I agree with your statements and sentiment on most subjects but this one surprises me. Somehow the gun/manufacturer is at fault? You been drinking Bob's cool aid?!

Romans 8:26-27 says - And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers, in harmony with God's own will.

I agree with Brady. My heart breaks for the family. I will be praying for God to heal the hearts of this hurting family. I will be asking that the mother be able to forgive her husband, and the father be able to forgive himself.
