    Bore brass cleaning brush

After over 500 rounds in my new Ruger KP95 I used the brush for the first time. I have been just using a patch with breakfree. I noticed the brush cleaned the bored much better. I'm just not sure if it is good to use it everytime I clean my gun. I don't know if it will damage the bore by using it more often. This is my first gun and I don't want to think I'm doing good if it will be bad in the long run. So, your advise will be appreciated.

The brass is softer than the steel in the gun barrel. Imo, it will never hurt it. I use a couple strokes of a bore brush every time I clean my handguns/rifles. I've never had a problem with it. It does indeed get them cleaner.

I have always used a bore brush, my barrels still look good as new. Oh and no scratches that I can see.

Just make sure that the brush goes all the way through on the stroke so that you don't mangle the bristles. BacSi

As already stated, brass is much softer than a gun barrel.

Besides, you don't mind pushing a tight fitting JHP down the barrel at 1,000 fps, so why should you be afraid of pushing a brush down the barrel at 1 fps?

It will not harm the barrel and will help clean it.

I really dont see how anything would get clean without a brush...a soft cotton patch is not going to remove what a metal encapsulated piece of lead with buring powder behind it has laid down.

    I always use a brush.

Cotton patches are fine but I too always use a brush most of the time. That's the way to really clean the bore.

    Ditto: Above
The hardness difference between brass or bronze and a gun steel barrel is great. A bronze or brass bore cleaning brush will not damage your barrel. Use it often.
