I got a Eddystone M1917. I don't think it will be on the banned list (of course it is a military rifle with a bayonet lug). Made September 1918. Inside of the barrel looks like the surface of the moon through a telescope. Oh' darn I may need to put a new barrel on it. Not a panic buy just a good find.

The funny thing is, I bought an AR a few weeks ago after the election panic died down, had wanted one for a while. In retrospect that was good timing.

Not a "panic" buy per se because I've been considering buying an AR-15 for a while. But given comments from some in our government, I accelerated my timeline for purchase and just bought a RRA AR-15 carbine in 5.56 today. Now, the question is can I find the ammo, it seems the entire state is sold out (though I can always use .223 in a pinch).

I'm not one that's inclined to "panic". As a sheepdog, I'm already prepared for WSHTF, thus no need to hurry out and purchase a bunch of stuff. If I had a bank full of unnecessary cash, I would have spent some of it on a bunch of Magpul 30 round magazines, and a few more 1000 round cases of .223, not because I need it mind you, but to sell to all those people that didn't have the foresight or funds to prepare prior to needing it and not having it. Would have caused that bank full of unnecessary cash to swell a bit. :) Ya'll be safe.

thanks ponchsox - any recommendations for ammo? Outside of the 9mm world I know zero.

Yes, XD-S and .38 Special. I'm contemplating getting an AR but I would want to build it. Is there enough time? :)

You can look online, although most of the bulk .223 and 5.56 seems to be out of stock. I would buy what ever you can afford at Shootstraight as long as the price is reasonable.
