Dick's is still showing 12 different AR style guns on their website. Ranging from Mossberg .22 for $299 to a Remington .308 for $1399. I don't know about in the stores though. I haven't been in Dick's in at least 2 years.
Sports Authority did the same with handguns back in the 90's.

Sad. I was in the LGS today and they were jacking up the price on all of the rifles. The place was PACKED w/ panic buyers.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
Still can't believe what happened on 11/06/12! Disgusted and disappointed!
AR's still up at Walmart and local sporting shops today when I was driving around looking for 223 ammo.

Before we get into name calling everyone should realize that the manager of a store has HUGE say in what is sold. Obviously every Walmart doesn't sell the same stuff, just like every Dick's doesn't sell the exact same stuff. The Walmart by me has 5 different brands of AR's in stock, AR accessories, and at least four different .223 ammo types exc exc. while a Walmart two hours down the road doesn't sell half of that. If the manager of a store gets 50 people telling them that their store shouldn't sell those EVIL guns then that manager might bow to the pressure and tell their employees to take em' down for the time being. They don't need to ask corporates permission for that.

I went by two LGS today and all their ar and ak style rifles and mags are gone. I bought the only 6 high cap glock mags they had left that fit my pistol. The owners stated most were getting ammo and reloading supplies, bullets, powder, primers. Lots of pistols available though such as Glocks, Sig Arms, XD, etc.
Some people will start trouble and then try to make it look like its your fault....

If you were not planning ahead over the last 4 - 5 years................. well..............
However with how the economy has blown so much during the same time, I can see where we all need to economize and grab what we can afford. Word!

There's a possibility that you could have some managers at (you name the retailer) who see an opportunity to increase their profit margins. The AR's that they have on hand are already bought. They pull them off the shelves and wait for the current panic to drive prices up. Then when all the local competitors are out of guns, they put their "new shipment" (got it right out of the stockroom) on sale at a higher price.

Yesterday I was looking at ARs on their website shopping for an AR. Today the link under rifles/modern sporting takes you to a blank page. If they are going to play that game, I'll take my business elsewhere.
