Huffington Post Writer Calls for Removing 2A

George Kenney: It's Not About the Constitution

Even though in the face of deranged men with assault rifles we have allowed constitutional law arguments to eclipse our common sense, our learned helplessness is by no means absolute. Americans are capable of saying "No, gun control is a political issue that must be fixed."

If that means getting rid of the Second Amendment, so be it.

Why stop there. Lets just dump the 1st and 5th as well. Hell, those pesky Bill of Rights are just getting in the way anyhow!

No worries. Nothing credible in his article worth recognizing anyhow. Just the rantings of a nut.

Liberals want the gov't to have more power than they do. The constitution gets in the way of that so they need to attack the constitution.

Soooo, how does this logic work?

    • The 2A's worth ditching because those who refuse to arm themselves find themselves incapable of effectively withstanding armed attack?

    • The 2A's worth ditching because we refuse to adequately "harden" facilities and the most-vulnerable public spaces sufficient to protect sitting-duck targets (such as school children) from being indefensible in the face of an armed assailant?

And yet, despite the refusal of so many, criminalizing everyone for daring defend themselves is going to result in fewer victims? NOPE. It'll just pave the way clear for armed criminals to do the deed ... anywhere they want, anytime they please, because nobody's capable of effectively withstanding them.

Utter, abject lunacy. I think it's called not seeing the forest for the trees; or, "progressive" myopia; or tearing the country to pieces, foundations first.

Pixie dust ain't gonna save us from such unthinking people. They think they'd feel better being incapable of withstanding any violent attack if only everyone else were in the same horrific ineffective boat with them.

We're going to have to save them from themselves ... and ourselves at the same time.

He is right about one thing: it isn't about the Constitution. It's about our ability to defend our very lives against threats. Those that don't avail themselves of the right to do so, or are so poorly served by those who refuse to do so on their behalf (ie, left as sitting ducks in schools and similar "fish in a barrel" facilities), have no right whatsoever to erase the ability of everyone because of it.

Amen, brother. Typical response we see in a pick and choose society where right and wrong is relative and one truth is just as good as another. You didn't seen him propose a solid fail-proof solution to the mass murder of innocents though, did you? Its because he doesn't have the solution. In his eyes, you, or those that insist on bearing arms, remains to be the problem with society. Its your insistance to keep your guns that puts us all at risk. Come to think of it, you might as well have pulled the trigger yourself - this is where this is all leading up to, etc. Its what the left does best, demonize.

He posted it almost 5 hours ago and No Comments... But then again, he has to approve your comment before it will post.

The 2A even protects that loon's rights, if he could just see the whole picture.

Ah, but you hit on a serious problem. Just as guns and alcohol don't mix, loons and guns don't mix.

I don't think there is another portion of the BOR which when taken literally, in an uncompromising fashion, enables the crazy person to gain access to a device capable of inflicting mass murder.
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.

2a is the only place in the Constitution/BOR that references a material object
