Welcome from Nevada! I like my Kahr P9, very good for CC.

Do you own any firearms? If not, consider a .22 to start for practicing with. Then get a 9mm for carrying.

And my wife is making good use of the SR9c's "little brother" - the SR22. Also an excellent little pistol.

+1 w/Massive! The Ruger SR9C is easy to shoot, and mine was very accurate right out of the box. It also gives you a 10 round and a 17 round mag. I also just purchased the SR22. It shoots great, controls are all the same as the SR9C, and much cheaper to practice with.

Can't go wrong with a GLOCK. They go bang, each and every time you pull the trigger, and the trigger is consistent, shot after shot.

I personally like the Kimber Solo Carry for a 9mm carry pistol. I carry mine in my right front pocket, and if you feed it a steady diet of high quality 124-147 grain ammo, it works just fine. You can find great concealment holsters for it as well, if you prefer not carrying it in a pocket. Of course you'll have to listen to the Kimber bashers, and they are plentiful. :) Be safe.

Yup, the only reason I go. I like the Glock in full size models, but for CC I went subcompact and preferred the XD in subcompact size. Got a fine deal at the show too, but shop around - I saw my gun for $600 and paid about $320 at the same show, different tables.

Go to a range that has a variety to rent. Figure out what they have that is good to carry. Then, taking reliability, features, and reputation into consideration, buy what you shoot best and most naturally with. That's what I did.

The style of trigger pull matters too, so you'll have to decide what seems best for you. I shot many, and I went with the XD9 because it fit my hand the best and was most natural for me to shoot, and (in 9mm at least) has a good reputation for reliable function.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I currently have a ruger LCR, kimber ultra crimson carry II .45. I love them both but really want a 9mm.
