I've been a member for years although I could never quite swing the cash for the lifetime. I do however send them $25, $50 when I have some extra cash. We definitely need them to help us.
In addition to NRA membership (I am a member), consider supporting the other organizations that support our rights, such as the Second Amendment Foundation and your state association. The 2nd Amendment Foundation and the ISRA played a big part in the recent advancement of second amendment rights in Illinois.

I will rarely post, but will read (and hopefully learn) a lot
Rejoined the NRA after a 15 year lapse.
Joined the 2a foundation for the first time last week.
I have been a lifetime member for about 15 years now. When I did it they had a quarterly payment plan. Not sure if they still offer that but it was a great deal at the time

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the law breaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is responsible for his actions....Ronald Reagan
I am due to reup! will pay it up next day or so!
Just signed up today...
Thanks for posting.
Thanks to everyone who has considered my post, particularly those who have elected to enlist or re-up.

Good post Mike, we should be seeing something like this on every firearm-related forum. If there ever was a time to join the NRA it is now !
Two thoughts:
1. Don't be complacent about this, step forward, do something, be proactive. Write letters, make phone calls, voice your opinion to your legislators. By all means support some gun group.
2. The words in the Second Amendment are only as strong as the cumulative voices behind them.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME.
In the past, I haven't always agreed with the strident way the NRA carried its message but now, the NRA has my full support. They are the most effective pro-gun activist group we have.
Posted this in another thread earlier this morning:
People can complain about the NRA all they want (I'm one from time to time, and have done it recently), but they are the group tasked with holding the line. When discussing the NRA and the upcoming fight, I've been equating them to the 101st Airborne at Bastogne, completly surrounded at the Battle of the Bulge, with Wayne LaPierre responding to critics by saying "NUTS". As I've said in other posts, his style rubs me the wrong way some times, but it's a bottom line business and you can't argue with results. LaPierre and and the NRA will hold the line. I tell all my friends and family that if they aren't a member, they're just along for the ride on the backs of the dues paying members, and have no right to wallow and complain if it doesn't work out in the coming months. The SAF and others will do their part and are effective in their own right, but when the balloon goes up, I want my support behind the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
Cheers!
