And you think the NRA's response made gun owners look like idiots?

Your response is far worse than anything I have seen even in the media. How does your mind twist this horrible situation to blame the NRA for not helping identify that her child was ready to "snap" as your phrased it? Wow, just wow

    Don't be silly.

As I said. I'm not blaming the NRA for past events, but I do think they could address things differently going forward.

You know that's what I meant.

    Great post.

If EVER there was a time to join the NRA, it's NOW. And it costs about the same as a box of ammo if money concerns you.

Gun grabber Dianne Feinstein's new AWB legislation includes:

Gun owners who want to hang on to their “grandfathered” semi-automatic firearms will not only have their guns registered, they will be fingerprinted and photographed like common criminals.

On Feinstein’s own website, Assault Weapons - Issues - United States Senator Dianne Feinstein the ugly details of her massive gun grab are now starting to emerge: Beyond the ban on magazines and specifically named firearms, any gun possessing even one cosmetic feature characteristic of semi-automatic utility rifles would be banned. Thumbhole stocks typical of .22 caliber plinking rifles would also be specifically banned.

But the real intent is stated in how she plans to treat people who already have semi-autos: Gun owners will be registered under the 1934 “National Firearms Act” – the same one that now regulates machine guns.

What hypocrisy on her part since she has a carry permit, armed body guards. But the average American who pays her big salary doesn't have the same rights to defend himself.

I wish I could swing the $300 for a lifetime membership, as that is a fantastic discount over the regular price, but I did just sign up for a 1 year membership today. I don't agree with every stance they take, but they are our largest voice right now. I will consider joining the 2A Foundation as well, but that may have to wait until next month.

Thank you Mike 1956 for the reminder to do this!

Thanks for the nudge. Finally joined today. They are perhaps our only chance right now.

If You Aren't An NRA Member...

I would add... If you are already a member and have been thinking about donating a little to the NRA, why don't you offer to pay for another's membership.

I know a youngish fella that is a responsible enthusiast. The other day I asked him if he was a member, he wasn't. When I asked if he had thought about it, he replied that he had been putting it off. I tossed him my visa and told him to get to filling out the personal information.

In the end, I feel good about giving a little $$ to the NRA and even better about giving them one more member.

Paying it forward makes the world a better place!

3 of us in my immediate household joined in September. Happy to have the sticker on my back windshield too!

I think we're reaching a boiling point in the country and it's pretty frightening.

    Two thoughts:
    1. Don't be complacent about this, step forward, do something, be proactive. Write letters, make phone calls, voice your opinion to your legislators. By all means support some gun group.

    2. The words in the Second Amendment are only as strong as the cumulative voices behind them.
+1 to the OP and this post. You and I are the NRA! Let's start acting like it or we'll have no right to do more than whimper when they knock on (or down) our door to relieve us of our arms. Our forefathers thought better of us than do our current "occupiers" in DC.

If You Aren't An NRA Member...

I rejoined the NRA today. I was a member decades ago but I let my membership lapse.

Rejoined the NRA last night after reading about what the tyrant Feinstein wants to pass this time around. The wolves are truly at the door...
