I think internally we, the gun owning community, need to hold ourselves to a fairly high standard and make sure we aren't propagating old/bad information.

That's a news report shortly after the incident. It's an active police investigation, they aren't going to share much with the media, nor should they. But the media will report any rumor from any source they can in order to have something to report. Until the final report from the authorities comes out, we won't know the FACTS. Again, as it should be. Let the police do their jobs, it's not a high priority for them to update the media about what they're doing.

It's actually a good reminder to all of us that we need to be extra careful when we share videos or other information because there are tons of things out there, and we haven't seen anywhere near all of them. So while it may look "new" to us, it may be quite outdated.
It's kinda like gun safety rules; everybody can benefit from a reminder now and again, even if we think we don't need it!
