I don't have a 1911, but if I did I would have a set of VZ's on it. I have heard nothing but good things about VZ.
Bud: I have a set on the way VZ320's in red ,white and black I expect to see them by the weekend I hope I also ordered stainless screws. Gonna put them on my Taurus 1911 first and then one of the Kimbers.
Gun Control: What a long strange trip it's been
Bud, Have had the green canvas micarta on both of my Kimbers(3") for awhile now and love 'em. I also have the same on one of my Colt's.From both the Kimber's I have fired approx. 3k rds. with grips installed.
The canvas style is the best IMO for a sure, firm, grip. They are rough, but not to the extent that they will hurt your hands even after an extended range session.
When they get wet with water or sweat they turn darker but turn back to origional when dry. When you get WD-40(or the like) on them they turn darker also but when rubbed with alcohol and a Q-Tip they turn back to the origional color. They are impervious to all the "normal" cleaning solvents also. I used ascetone on them once and it didn't hurt them.
The VZ guys are great to talk to on the phone. My order was delivered promply. And they fit perfectly on my weapons.
I would reccommend them.
Just got a e-mail from John at VZ they no longer carry the red, white and black grips BUMMER. So I changed to th black and red micarta hope to see them by mondat the23rd
