the full size version. like a Glock 19 vs a Glock 17. the P229 is their "compact" version of the P226. it's not very compact though. it's just more compact than the P226 is. the P226 is a little longer and a little taller than the P229.

The 226 is an alloy or steel frame, depending on the model you get of 226. It is a full size pistol - but so is the SP2022 and the full size P250

The advantage of the P250 is, everything is modular, the FCG is swappable between full size, compact, subcompact- grips (in S/M/L sizes also) ($50 a pop), slides/barrels (in 9mm, .357Sig, .40, .45ACP) in each size are ~$290 a pop. They also have 2 different trigger lengths to help people with shorter fingers.
You can go from a 6+1 subcompact .45ACP to a 17+1 fullsize 9mm in ~28 seconds. On the same FCG.
You can also mix and match, ie: Subcompact slide and barrel on a compact grip/frame, with fullsize mags.

The 2022/2340 and P250 are all polymer guns. It's a way for SIG to cut manufacturing cost and lower its price, in its effort to broaden its customer base. But if you are looking for affordable all-metal SIGs, look for Police trade in P6/225 and P228 that are made in W Germany. Those are great pistols, even in today's standard. Although fire-power might be inadequate, some might argue, in today's world of 17 round magazines.
Other SIGs you might want to consider are the ultra compact/compact SIGs - P238/938, P232, P239. All are very proven and a "great value", for a SIG.

The P250 is a nice bargain, but you left out that it is only available in a long double action trigger. While the trigger is smooth, and breaks consistently, some have issues shooting it consistently. The 2022 OTOH is a heck of a deal. Its basically a 226 with a poly lower for almost half price. It shoots DA/ SA so you get great accuracy on follow up shots.
Unless you need the sub-compact for concealment I'd go with the 2022.

+1 on the SP2022. I'm fairly new to handguns, but the more I research other brands features, the more I like my 2022. At first I was after the P250. The trigger felt very good, but the "DA only" turned me away. My only regret with the SP2022, is having to pay $60 for an extra magazine :(

Love my SP2022 in .40 and it think it has the best trigger of any of my Sigs. Not a fan of the P250 as it is DA only.
