7 round mag limits in NY

Would an offer like this be of use to anyone?

    - "sell" me your Sig P229 mags
    - I'll tag them with sellers info
    - when the silliness is thrown out by the courts, contact me and I'll "sell" them back at the same price.

We can split shipping, I guess.

Don't want to profiteer, but wouldn't mind baby-sitting a pile of mags fellow owners were forced to move out of state.

I suspect no NYers will do anything right now, given that this is likely going to end up in court post-haste.

    There is also this:

I jumped past some of the comments due to time. Do you guys in New York already have to register your guns? If so, then they know what you have. I shared the senators link with a couple of friends in NY. Thanks 10th for the link.

    1. Pre-1994 higher cap (more than 10 rounds) mags that were grandfathered are now illegal. NYers will have one year to sell them out of state.

    2. 10-rd mags currently in possession can only be loaded with 7 rounds.

    3. New mags are limited to 7 rounds (of course, for many guns such mags do not exist)

    4. "Assault rifles" are now illegal. Current owners are grandfathered, but will have to register the guns with the State. One feature, like a pistol grip, flash hider, muzzle brake, folding/telescopic stock on a semi-auto that takes a detacheable mag = "assault weapon." [Note to NYers - Ruger Mini 14 still seems legal]

    5. All ammo sales will require a background check

    6. All private sales other than immediate family will require a background check

Numerous other provisions about mental health workers notifying authorities if they feel someone is a danger. Of course, all that will do is discourage anyone who owns guns (or might want to own them some day) from getting the help they need.

Note - Again, I am not a lawyer. The above is based on a quick read through the bill. I am sure there will be more analysis as time goes by.

    Crazy.
    Just sickening.

I am horrified for the law-abiding gun-owners of NY. What a disgusting turn of events.

Has anyone seen the Texas Congressman Regan says if the president tries to ban our Guns He's going to defund the White House and start article of impeachment on the President. It's a state like Texas comes up with a slogan, don't mess with Texas!
I would never vote for him as this guy is an elitests, just look how hw carries himself.

Link to the text of the bill:
S1422-2013 - NY Senate Open Legislation - Increases the penalty for the possession, use, or sale of certain firearms and ammunition and redefines "assault weapon"; repealer - New York State Senate

And the Justification for the bill?:
    JUSTIFICATION:
On Monday December 24, 2012, William Spengler, Jr., reported a fire to
the local fire department in Webster, NY. Then he waited with three
guns, one of which was an assault rifle,
for the firefighters to arrive. He killed two and seriously wounded
two others. Mr. Spengler was a convicted felon, and as such, was
prohibited by law from owning firearms. Somehow, he
managed to obtain them anyway. This horrendous incident, the massacre
    at Sandy Hook
Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut ten days earlier, in which
20 six and seven year-olds and 6 faculty and staff were murdered
execution-style, and other mass shootings that have occurred -
Columbine High School, where 12 students and one teacher were killed
and 21 injured, the Clackamas Town Center Mall in Oregon, where 2

people were killed and 1 wounded, the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek,
Wisconsin where 6 people were killed and 4 wounded, the Century Movie
Theater in Aurora, Colorado, where 12 people were killed and 58
wounded, and in broad daylight, Tucson. Arizona where six people were
killed and 11 wounded, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords,
who was severely wounded - clearly point to the need to ban
assault-style weapons, for stricter gun control laws and increased
    criminal sanctions.

    Remington Arms

I would hope Remington Arms would do the same thing Barrett did.I'd close the factory and move it to a friendly gun state. After all they employ several hundred jobs. Why would you want to go after my lively hood by imposing sanctions
that only hurt the company.God forbid any other state follows suit ! Why would I want to buy a bottom fedder that holds only 7 rounds?
