Yeah, that's the form that you fill out at your FFL. The FFL stores that information at their location for a specific number of years. The BATF can come and request to see it, but they don't receive all of that information during the NICS check.

I just linked the paperwork. The ATF gets the serials in Section D.

The neat thing about Executive orders, is they can be tossed in the trash as soon as the next president swears in; just as congress had noting to do with implementing it, congress needs not be involved in killing it.

See my reply above. They do not get that paperwork.

I agree with TX. There are a lot of these items that may seem innocuous at face value, but if you read into it what they truly intend to do, they could be disastrous. Will it turn out that way? I hope not. And I am surprised that it is not more aggressive.

Obamacare was designed to take care of that. You might keep your insurance through work for a little while, but eventually your company will drop it.

Hmm.. I hope you guys are right about this. Any dealers out there to confirm that the ATF doesn't receive a copy of a guns serial?

Not worried about it right now with my present doctor, as he's a gun owner and ccw holder. He also has no gun buster signs on his office. I carry in there all the time.

However, if I ever see any other doctor who asks any questions, I definitely will be saying I no longer own any guns.

    5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
I think someone already hit on this, but I have seen LEGAL Carry Guns seized during routine traffic checks “not to be returned until proof of ownership is shown”.

Knowing this administration, it could mean ANY firearm law enforcement comes in contact with. And when ownership is proven, the rightful owner has to then have one of the NEW Background Checks done.

Like Health Care, THIS IS ALL an excuse to get everyone signed up and “Registered” in the National Data Base.

Can you say REGISTRATION and TAXATION on your guns?

    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

    7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
Vague by design, but like health care, we don’t know what’s in it until we pass it.

Well, HE just passed it and there are NO SPECIFICS. We won't know until we see what's in it.

And to think Joe and B.O. accused Romney of being "vague on his economic plan saying he [Romney] couldn't provide enough specifics."

As a physician, I'll be quick to tell you 2 things:

    1. I have never asked any patient this question, as it's none of my business.
    2. If anyone is asked this question by a healthcare provider, feel perfectly comfortable in replying, "That question is not relevent to my healthcare and quite frankly, is none of your business.". This is not information that any healthcare provider is entitled or required to know unless you want them to know.
