    7 9mm or 7 45acp?

The stupidity in NY just got me to thinking. If you were forced to give up hi capacity, would it influence your caliber choice? If so, in what way, and if not, share your thoughts.

Or, would it give you more inclination to gravitate to revolvers?
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

I absolutely would carry a .45 if I couldn't have more than 7+1. And I have been perusing the Ruger SP101 pages, so I suppose it does have me gravitating towards revolvers.

On second thought, the 8-shot 357 magnum revolvers are looking pretty good!

I have always believed, carry the largest caliber you will actually carry. Some people stop carrying because the gun is heavy or uncomfortable.

My draw towards 9mm wasn't the capacity (I have a Nano which is 6+1), but the availability of ammunition, the controlability of the size, and the fact that Speer GD 124+P is the most street tested and proven round out there.

So no, I wouldn't change for that reason alone.

Those New York rats can get pretty big. Better go .45.

It wouldn't change much for me, since the regular carry guns include a 7+1 Kahr, a 5-shot snub, and an 8+1 .45 1911. Guess I'd have to revert to a 7-round mag for the 1911.

Where it might make a difference is the guns I would recommend to people who are new to carrying or those seeking my advice.

No, I like the 9mm platform too much to change.

Great question. I can only speak for myself, but I would carry the .45. And since our NY brethren will still be facing criminals who don't follow the law, they will likely need each round to REALLY count. Shoot, I'd seriously look at a 10mm Glock.

I don't own a .45 acp, but if two gun's were laid out in front of me with a choice of 7+1 of .45 or 9mm I would take the .45. I own two 9mm's but given the choice I would go .45 acp.

It would have me looking pretty hard at .357 Magnum revolvers.

I might switch to a .45 but not really sure. I hate to even think about giving in this early. No more crazy talk!
