It feels so awkward saying wall-thur...perhaps I should just use the german valter and risk being laughed at.

Ja! Vahl-ter. Das stimmt. But if I had to anglicize it, I would just say, "Walter." Because German does not use the "th" sound there's no reason to pronounce it that way in English when you can get close with Walter. That also makes sense because Walter is a perfectly normal name in English. That would be like calling your friend Walter, "Wal-ther" just to show off how good your "th" is.

It's like Heckler & Koch. I just cannot, cannot, cannot say "Coke," even though HK USA themselves says you can say it this way. People look at me funny but I say, "Koch" because anything else kind of hurts.

I usually say "Wal-thur" even though I know it's wrong.

I also can't bring myself to say "Heck-ler and Coke", so it's either "HK" or "Heck-ler and Cook" for me.

You have to lisp the "th" part. What? Lisping not tactical enough for you?

true, my tactical lisp throws BGs off while they're busy laughing so I have a few seconds to stop a threat.

Which makes sense since that's what it means!

    Carry on...
