    All of these ideas for me thinking. We have a large historic Victorian home and we think that we might put in two. A small one in a closet, then a large one in a basement room that was once the coal bin. It is very large and is the only room that has brick on all the sides. It would be more of a vault than a safe.

    ...might save money and get more space to line a closet with 3/4" plywood (ceiling, too) and then get a metal roll-up-pull down door with locking closure... a lot of safes are expensive and fire protection with my idea, though...
