10/22 TD I suppose.
my UZI 9mm, traded three guns for it, and I'm happier with it than I was with the other three guns.
For me its either my 10/22, Ruger MK III or my SP101 22.
Tons of inexpensive plinking fun.
We take a at least one that we din not shoot last range day .22 LR pistol and one .22 rifle--everyone gets to shoot something new and different. The grand kids like to take and shoot their personal guns (all have received their own rifle at about age 11-12 from Papa). They like to shoot those as older than their Papa or even better, older. I have a couple of 80 + year old rifles that still are fun to shoot.
If it was not raining here, we would be at the range this afternoon. Good cheap shooting rimfire guns, kids, and the freedom to do so.
any of my 22's. soon getting a 17HMR that I expect to be a cheap date.
My Ruger SR22. I don't have any long guns...:frown:
I did forget to include in my earlier comment that my grand kids do like to shoot my Mossberg 500 Tacti Kool. I guess the looks and the recoil turns them on.

Ruger MKIII22/45. Great indoors.
Any bolt action, tube fed .22 rifle. New or old. With a $100.00 scope they are more accurate than my eyes. Plus the ammo choices, short, long, long rifle.

A Henry Golden Boy that I gave her for Christmas.
For bigger booms she also has a Draco that she likes to unload once in a while.
I have to agree that the Mosin Nagants are not a bad bang for the buck.
My AMD-65 (Hungarian AK variant with a very short barrel and big muzzle brake to make it legal. I paid $329 for it new before the 2008 election drove prices up. They could still be had for around $400 new in early 2011 after prices normalized a little between scares. For a short barrel AK, it's surprisingly accurate with the traditional iron AK sights on a short sight radius. I've recently added a quad rail fore-end and a reflex sight Santa brought be for Christmas. Ammo is still relatively inexpensive if you can find some, but I've purchased a bunch when prices were still very low. It's a hoot to shoot with that brake - a real flame-thrower with the short barrel. Of course, any .22 is still fun and cheap these days...

My 700 Remmy, by far. Drive 1000 yards and set up the target, drive 1000 yards and shoot three rounds, drive 1000 yards and check the target, repeat.
My cheap dates are a Marlin 60 and a Ruger Single Six! My Wife's favorites are Stevens Favorite and her Ruger MK1. All are in 22LR. Both of her choices will shoot circles around my choices, But I just like them. DR
