So their message is that gun manufacturers NEED New York?
I dunno about that... should manufacturers find the need to leave New York due to political lunacy, I'd be happy to buy a few extra guns to help offset their losses... how 'bout you?

Another way to look at it is GA, MI, and NC have 10,000,000 less people, but more gun owners.
What about total guns owned? Since NY requires a several hundred dollar per gun license, I'd bet there are fewer multiple gun households.
What is the data source? Are they counting NY criminals as gun owners?

That's 11 years ago. This is starting to sound like that survey of 250 people over a decade ago that they based that "40% of all firearms are sold without background checks" argument on.
What's also of intgerest is when you look at the % of state population that is gun owners I think they are in the offing 5...

Thinking many of you are missing a big point.

What, exactly, is the American Academy of Pediatrics doing with such information, and how is that relevant to pediatrics?

I don't believe this is very accurate. In NH we don't have to register our firearms so I don't believe an accurate portrayal of our private sales are accounted for.

I would imagine that this data was gathered by asking people if there are guns in the home when they bring their kids in for appts. If this were the case, you can bet it's skewed in a big way because how many people are going to admit this to their docs, even under duress? I wouldn't. Not his business.
I also really, really don't like the sound of this thing: "Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System." Sounds like something that wants or expects a certain result whatever the evidence happens to be. In other words, more bad science.

If I were a firearms manufacturer, I would look at the amount of people in the state,, then how many of them own/buy firearms, then ask myself why I am bothering to waste my time courting them with my efforts to do business there.
IE.
If you are a refrigerator salesman, would you waste your time trying to sell an eskimo one?
Or would you go someplace where they are more receptive to the idea of keeping their food cold?

Since FL doesn't have gun registration, how do they know how many own guns, and whether it's one gun or many?
