Congrats to the UK, good luck for would-be purchasers elsewhere.

Does anyone have any links to a document showing the list of pistol candidates they were testing against the GLOCK?

What pistol is the choice of the UK citizens... Oh ya, they have to arm themselves with baseball bats.

    Seriously though, good for Glock.

I'd like to also know the comparative per-unit price. Don't misunderstand, I like GLOCK handguns, but I remember how they originally launched into the LE market. In the late 80's & early 90's their generous trade-in allowances, attractive financial terms & the lavish entertaining of more than a few LE procurement officers greased the path for their remarkably swift, almost universal adoption. GLOCK insightfully knew that they could leverage those low-margin LE endorsements into high-margin profitability in the private sector pistol market. It seems GLOCK is as clever at marketing & brand development as they are about innovative handgun design.

If the British citizenry were allowed to own handguns, I could just imagine the commercials. Man sitting in dentist's chair, druggie bursts in to the office demanding novacaine. The dentist and the patient draw their glocks. Fast forward to "Gunnie" in a Bobbie's uniform arresting the druggie. (In an British accent)" Somebody picked the wrong fang carpenter" Or " Glock more perfect than a British mans' teeth"

But shouldn't Glocks be banned in the UK? After all one of those deadly black hi-capacity assault pistols was used in the Virginia Tech killings.

They already are banned for possession by the general population, as are all handguns. They have been for years. But can't we have just the smallest bit of conversation in the "General Firearm Discussion" sub-forum without the continuing, incessant reminders of "gun bans", "mass murders", "high capacity" & "assault weapons" being interjected as sarcastic humor? Go visit the 2nd Amendment sub-forum, they'll think you're insight is hilarious...over there.
