Which generation of glock 19 should I buy?

I have plenty of time to make this decision even though I have a glock 19 gen 4 on order right now from my local gun shop (It's going to be quite awhile before they get any in ) But I'm still a little leery of the Gen 4's and am strongly considering buying a gen 3 instead. Thoughts on the Gen 4 Glock 19? Glock says they've fixed all the issues they had, I plan on carrying this gun every day, is there any feature on the Gen 4 that is really worth taking a roll of the dice?

People seem to like the mag release and the back straps on the Gen 4's. But I still stick with the Gen 3's.

I am perfectly happy with my Gen 3 19, but if I was buying now, I would get the Gen 4. Not necessarily because it's better, just because it the newer model. I have shot a gen 4 G23 and it felt almost identical to my 19 in my hand.

Most of the Gen4 owners here seem to have confirmed that the probs are worked out.

I'm staying Gen3, because I want compatibility with what I have, but I'm not skeered of Gen4 anymore.

What compatibility would you lose by going to Gen4?

Fair question. I already own a bunch of Glocks, so I'd be looking at seconds in a future purchase. Gen4 G19 recoil spring, slide, etc.. not compatible with Gen3 G19.

    I have a well used Gen 2 and a 3.

Preference is for the grip feel of the 2. I don't care if there is a rail or not.

Gotcha. I figured it had to be parts but I figured if I didn't ask, I'd end up being wrong!

I like my Gen 4. I don't have a gen 3 to compare it to though. The interchangeable backstraps are nice. I haven't had a single FTF or FTE with my G19 Gen 4...

Which ever you find that fits you best, or which ever one you can get your hands on first, I heard those are pretty hard to come across right now.

You can't go wrong with either a Gen 3 or 4. When 4's first came out I didn't want anything to do with them, and for good reason. But having shot a few of the recent Gen 4's, they seem to run much better. I think the 1st run of 4's had some tolerances out causing some issues. Get what fits your hands, and you can shoot well, and afford. If you find a "cheap" gen 3, go for it.

I carry one of each, and do not prefer one over the other.

How many rounds have you put through it? What kind of ammo?

I've had mine since the end of February 2012 and I put anywhere from 200 to 400 rounds a month thorough it.

Other than a couple hundred rounds of my SD carry ammo, all my rounds have been hand loads.
