USAA Insurance
Im currently in the process of buying a new home, part of that process is getting a homeowners insurance quote to my loan adviser.
So im on the phone, talking through the usual stuff, what type of roof, number of bedrooms, etc.
He then says that if I wanted to cover my wifes jewelry, they can include that in my policy, also if I am a gun owner, they can specifically cover those as well.......
I said something along the lines of "im not saying im a gun owner, but what kind of coverage do you offer for firearms". wink wink
He starts off by saying, they DO NOT share any ownership information outside of the company, they offer several plans for full replacement, regardless of what happened inside or outside of your home, all with zero deductible. He then goes on to say they are fully aware of the exponential increase in value of AR-15's and other "assault rifles" and pay full market price for replacement. They also cover any different uppers you may own for your ar-15's AND optics.

I know I sound like a sales rep for USAA, but my jaw literally hit the floor when I heard an insurance salesmen use the term upper and optics.
I figured with all the bad news going around, its nice for us all to hear about a company who supports us gun owners, and keeps their employees informed and using correct terminology.

Yeah, if they ban in their facility, it's weird since many execs are retired military and it's in TX.

A few years back after the rash of hurricanes hit, USAA stopped covering in FL. Might have to recheck with them.

We have USAA and they are the best insurance company ever! We use both their Homeowners and auto.
Didn't know you could cover guns...we'll have to look into that.

Bummer too because I go through them for everything: insurance, banking, investing...hands-down the best company of any kind I've ever dealt with.

Why won't they cover your home in FL? We lived in Tampa for 4 years and had USAA, although that was a long time ago.

27 years Army and never once was USAA anywhere near the best deal on any insurance Not once.
They still send me offers but when I check them they are a lot higher than what I pay else where.
Example on my bike with no tickets they are are 200 dollars higher.
Shop around.

I'm in Florida and I have USAA for all my insurance needs. When we get calls from other insurance companies, we just tell them "we have USAA" and they usually just hang up...they can't beat USAA on pricing or service.

Been with USAA 43 years now. (We get two checks per year)... But we changed our home owners coverage several years ago over to Armed Forces Insurance. At that time, the wife wanted earth quake insurance and AFI rates were $200 less than USAA w/o the earth quake insurance... My BIL who is an insurance adjuster in NY says USAA is the best company he works with. They do the insured right... I would still check AFI... they have been great for a couple of our losses too.
