Suspects, victim fire shots in south Wichita altercation

Police are investigating an incident in which both suspects and victim fired shots in south Wichita late Monday afternoon.

A 34-year-old woman told police three strangers knocked on her door in the 1400 block of East Tulsa shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, Lt. Doug Nolte said. She did not open the door of the house located southwest of Pawnee and Hydraulic, but they asked if a certain person was there.

She told them she did not know who that was and that he did not live there, Nolte said. The men left. Suspicious after a recent burglary, she went out the door and tried to get the tag number for their car — a Nissan Maxima or Sentra.

About 15 minutes later, she told police, she heard noises at the back of the house, as if someone was trying to kick the door in. She had boarded that door shut because of the recent burglary, Nolte said, and she retrieved a gun from the kitchen.

Whoever was trying to get in through the back door gave up and fired three shots through the door, Nolte said. The woman who lived there ran out the front door and fired two shots into the air “in an attempt to scare off whoever was trying to break into the home,” Nolte said.

She thought it was the same three men who had knocked on her front door previously.

A 24-year-old man who also lives at the house was not involved in the altercation and was not hurt, Nolte said.

I just wonder how many more incidents we are going to have now that "idiot Joe" opened his mouth and inserted foot. Someone, and I mean someone who is innocent, is going to get hurt or worse one of these days because of what that idiot said! Maybe Obama should consider violating the VP's 1st Amendment rights and impose a gag order on him. Probably be more useful in preventing gun injuries than violating our 2nd Amendment rights.

That's a pretty good way to get killed, if she's fairly sure three assailants are outside, one of whom (at least) just fired upon her. There's got to be a better way than Joe's way. Heck, pick almost any other way.

That will never happen. Joe suggested the double barrel because he knows that home invasion gangs never have more than 2 thugs -- not that it matters since you are standing their with an empty shotgun.
