Target Gun for under 1k, Options ?

I am thinking of getting a gun for target practice or even competing somewhere down the line. I would like to spend under 1000 bucks. Any Ideas? Im thinking I want 9mm,.40 or .45acp. Maybe a full size Kimber 1911, A glock 34, M&P pro... ? I saw that Ruger has a 1911 out that seems fairly priced. What do you guys use ?

Target guns and competition guns are two different types of guns. When you say competition gun, what kinds of competition are you talking about?

Exactly JD! Are you talking about "NRA Bullseye" target practice or "IDPA-style" target practice?

Any of the longer competition/target-oriented CZ pistols might float your boat: CZ USA Competition Handguns.

The CZ SA Target can be had for around $1K or so. They come up for sale now and then. Discontinued by CZ in 2011, but they come up for sale now and then. The CZ Tactical Sport is another. Or even the CZ SP-01. Give Angus Hobdell a call @ CZ Custom / Ghost Products. He'll likely have some excellent suggestions. He's got a SP-01 Basic avail $800.

CZ SA Target @ Bud's Gun Shop, pre-owned -- uncertain if it's in stock, but it's listed as qty=1.

CZ Tactical Sport .40S&W, a couple of them @ KY Gun Co..

For the money it's hard to beat a G34 or G35 (<-- power factor). You could get a G34/35, some mags and some bling (belt/holster/etc) for under $1K.

I'm pretty sure all conventional firearms fall in the price range of $1,000,000 (1000k)

I heard Sap03 is so rich, he actually carries a gold-plated desert eagle as his CCW
In all seriousness you can't beat a good 1911 style pistol in my opinion, or a glock like timmy said.

Springfield Range Officer, .45, street price around $800.00. Good trigger, scary accurate to me. Marketed as a production gun for competition, entry level and easily upgraded. Google reviews for it.

With the IDPA clarification, it's gonna' be tough, IMHO, to beat the already mentioned G34/35 or the S&W M&P Pro Series.

good gun and fairly cheap for idpa is the CZpo7...it only has a 3.8 inch barrel but is a really nice gun for anything but bullseye. i just bought 2 about 3 months ago for 449.00 each.
