My 92 compact is sitting in lay-away waiting for me. I keep looking for 9mm ammo and it's just so hard to find around here. Now on the other hand I can find .40 ammo on a pretty regular basis around me. My thinking has somewhat shifted, I have my 2 G19's and my G17 so that really has the 9mm's covered I think (even though I want a 92 bad). While at the LGS (price gougers) today I saw 2 guns in .40 that caught my eye, one was a 96A1 (yes) and the other was a FNS 40. I tried both guns in the hand and the FNS just felt a world better. Now mind you I don't own a gun made by either company so that's why they are on the radar. I know there are other MFG's out there so the list could go on and on but I ant to try to keep it to these 2 guns. I'm not a gun snob so I like to have a variety in the stable. What do you think, move up to the .40 because ammo is around and thoughts on these 2 guns.
Just from the technical specs I like the looks of the FN. I have noticed more folks around my neck of the woods buying and carrying them for a CCW. The 40 has received both cheers and jeers, but as a retired cop I can tell you from the shootings I have been privy to, it works WELL. As long as you can shoot it with the same level of accuracy, comfort and skill, I say go ahead and step up. Especially if your ammo sources are good in todays market.
