Clerk shot and killed in apparent robbery
They were looking for the BG in the woods next to where I work with guns drawn. I passed by the Texaco this morning. Here's the story:
A customer who walked into a convenience store in Chesapeake Wednesday morning found the store clerk dead on the floor from a gunshot wound.
Chesapeake 9-1-1 got the call on this at around 9 a.m. from the Texaco convenience store in the 1100 block of S. Military Highway.
The clerk who was killed has been identified as 49 year-old Ozkan Karasu, who lived in Chesapeake.
Police say that this was a robbery gone bad, but also said that they had no witnesses. They were pulling the surveilance footage to see if the crime was caught on video.
They did determine that there was a suspect spotted fleeing the scene, running past a mobile home park towards the Greenbrier area.
Police have three people in custody and expressed confidence that they had the right people. Their identities have not yet been released.
The distraught owner of the convenience store declined to comment.
It Is Depressing Thought...
obviously because of the death of the clerk...but even more so, that as these BG's (sounds like they may have them) are taken off of the street...so many more seem to wait in line for MORE crime.
When are we going to start putting these animals away for looooooong terms?
Stay alert...stay safe!
They should know better....
But the thought of being armed would never cross their minds I am afraid. It is hard for me to understand this thinking but that is the way it is for most of them.
