Red face Would you feel comfortable with a Glock 26 as a home defense weapon?

So i have a Glock 23 and because of my size i carry it at the 12 o'clock position. BUT i am also a broke college student with no money to go out buying a buncha guns. I love my 23 but too much recoil for me. I want to get the 26 for concealment but it would also have to double as a home or "apartment" lol defense gun. What do you guys think? Thinking of the 26 OR a 19.

Any firearm I trust my life to outside of the home is also a firearm I'd trust my life to inside of the home.

Absolutely I would and what's more, I do.

Pick yourself up a couple of G19 mags for more capacity when it's doing HD duty and use the G26 mags for SD duty.

keep the 23 and buy a 9mm conversion barrel. I have one. It's flawless.

I would and do trust my life and family to a G26 or 19. My wife has a G27 with a 9mm conversion (basically a G26) for home protection. Her and I feel plenty comfortable with that.

In a word, Yes. Especially when it's backed up by my 30 round mag and all my other mags that go with my other Glock 9s.

Just curious, I heard reports of unreliability with conversion barrels. I have never experienced this. Have you?

The only reason why my G26 doesn't ever pull nightstand duty like my 19 or 17 is because it lacks a rail. Every weapon that fills an HD role for me has a light mounted. Like others have said, the G26 with a larger mag would do fine if you don't use or plan to use a weapon mounted light. Just make sure you have a good handheld that is easy to grab right next to it.

Of course, you could go pick up a Glock 19 and have a grip chop done on it....you could even do it yourself if you wanted to save money.

Found a website that shows what I'm talking about. I really wish Glock made a 19 length slide with a 26 length grip. Would be awesome. Longer sight radius than the 26, just as easy to conceal, has light rail.

The service costs $70 from Cold Bore Customs.

Examples of the Cold Bore Customs chop can be seen in this thread on Glock Talk.

If I could only have one pistol it would be a Glock 19. A chopped 19 would be even more versatile. In the future I plan on getting one once I get more important purchases taken care of. If I didn't already have a 26 and 19 it would be higher on my priority list.

    One of these days.....

the 26 is pretty small I hear (never held one) it also doesn't have a rail like sparky said.

I need something that I can hold with all four fingers.

Get a 23C and that will solve the recoil muzzle flip issue. Also use a proper grip and stance.

They are small but I don't even notice my pinky hanging off while I'm shooting mine. I have pretty large hands too. To me one of the bigger downsides of the shorter grip is that it's harder to get a good grip on while drawing from concealment. Adding a +2 pinky extension to the mag would probably solve that problem but take away from the G26's main benefit....having a super short grip to conceal easier.

I want to get some GAP floorplates to try out but keep forgetting to order them. They should help with the draw without adding too much length or added bulk.
