need advice on cleaning my carry

I'm a little confused about getting in the "nooks and cranny's" when cleaning a semi-auto. I have a sprinfield sub-40 and I just got the new para slim hawg for my concealed carry . When using a powder solvent and a bristle to clean inside the frame, the solvent gets down into the little "nooks and cranny's". Should I worry about not being able to get the parts dry? What could I use to get into these hard to reach places? Or should I be careful and not get the solvent in there in the first place?

Air Compressor then reoil..

i will use brake clean to clean out soem of the harder to take apart pistols then let dry and reoil all metal parts

It's hard nto to get solvent in the nooks etc so Compressed air is way to go

Agreed - compressed air is your friend :smilez: Not only for spare lube/cleaner etc but lint too!

These days small compressors are pretty cheap - Cambell Hausfeld etc from WallyWorld. Well worth having on hand.

good old number 9, q-tips, pipe cleaners, and the normal cleaning items. brake cleaner (wal-mart cheap brand) is hard to beat. just re-oil good. and your best friend will be compressed air.

Remember with the cans of , or a compressor for air to let out a shot of it first before applying,, most have condenst water in them

A parts washer is also a great way to go. The ones that just pump mineral spirits out of a little nozzle.

Do a thorough cleaning with your choice of cleaners. If you get sloppy, don't worry.

Once you are done, toss the parts into a dishwasher with a heated drying cycle. The dishwashing detergent has grease cutting agents that work really well. The dish washer itsself will use water that is way too hot for unprotected hands (which means that it will evaporate faster), and the heated dry will dry out the spots that you can't get into easily. A little compressed air and your choice of oil, wallah!, you are done.

Actually they should not have water in them... the trick is not to tilt them at any time (tilt the gun not the can). Although as a CYA it's probably good to shoot some air out to make sure there is no crap in the nozzle.
