    Loose rear sight question

So, while cleaning the Commander after todays range session I noticed some left/right play in my rear sight (standard dovetailed fixed sight). So is this a home gunsmith fix or is it a trip to the local gun smith? Got plenty of tools but would like to know how to fix this without buggering up my black hard chrome slide.

Eric - sounds like it just needs staking.

If you have a good quality center punch - set up slide in leather jawed vice - and make a firm and deliberate punch indent in front of and behind the sight - very close to edge of dovetail. Enough to upset the metal just a tad. This may well be all that is needed.

The effect on surface finish should be minimal. Be firm and assertive but not brutal - shucks - hard to describe in text!

Thanks guys. I did have some red loctite and tried working some in. If that doesn't do the trick I'll try the punch route.
