    GAO Investigating Gov't Ammo Purchases

I'm hearing a lot of contradictory information as to what is the source of the recent shortage of ammunition. Is it government purchases, consumer panic and stockpiling? Who knows. At least there are investigations underway because the current situation is just ridiculous.

"The GAO is entering the investigation just a few days after legislation was introduced in the House and Senate to prevent agencies, except for the Department of Defense, from buying more ammunition and making their stockpiles greater than they were during previous administrations."

SEC's anti-trust division should investigate possible conspiracy to price fix by artificially creating the appearance of a shortage. I'm not saying that is happening, but it isn't out of the question and should be looked into. DHS purchases can't explain
the disappearance of 22 lr from shelves. And I don't think that can be explained by any hoarding done by folks who
    carry defensively-- wrong caliber.

If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.

It is not now, um, hah, about what we might buy in the future, so as much is it as about what we have on hand.......some of us were a wee bit proactive.....................

I think that by now enough time has passed since the shortage began that we should be seeing a lot more imported ammo available. That's not happening - wonder why?

    ^^^^YEP^^^^^^^^^^^

And why, when you go to the websites that list ammo in stock, no matter what it is, even Brown Bear and the like, which used to be $11/50 is still now $32-40.
