1895 Winchester in 30-06, also known as Theodore's

"Big Medicine" when chambered in the 405. So, what do you all thing of this thing? I will probably put one on layaway at Buds Monday afternoon. It will be a Browning reproduction chambered in 30-06. I think it will be a fun shooter and good for anything that walks on various continents.

Very cool lever-action design and one of only a few lever-actions that was chambered for the .30-06. A John Browning designed action that is very clever and strong. Not particularly adaptable to scoped use but glorious to use without a scope. A man's rifle that, in .30-06, could easily be tailored to hunt anything on the continent.

I have an old Winchester Model '95 .405 and a friend has a reproduction .30-40. Other than the tang safety on the reproduction, they're kissing cousins when cycled and shot. Well... the .405 kicks harder. The new 95s, whether of Browning or Winchester origins, still offer the oddly "spills-its-guts," yet smooth action. Workmanship must be good on the reproductions.

The rifles carry nicely in the crook of one's left arm when prowling the woods. They're way more fun to own and use than most popular modern rifles!

That is one fine looking rifle.

Very cool rifle. Nice lines on it. Very sleek design. I'd love to have one. I bet it's a tack driver too.

It is a beautiful gun and a cool chambering in a lever gun. Very nice. Let us know how it shoots!

I use to have an original Winchester 1895 in 30-06 and it was awesome. Back when I bought it the price was less than $700. Boy I wish I still had it.
