I never met the man or spent any time around him, so I have no objective opinion regarding his mental capacity.

Judging by the limited amount about him I know I have to say he seems nutty as Chinese chicken salad, though.

He's definitely touched in the head, but in my opinion he knew what he was doing and the consequences. I hope he fries.

Well he sure don't have many indications of being "normal."

i feel that if someone pleads not guilty and then later changes their mind to insanity, that they ARE INDEED in right mind and are just trying to get away from a stricter punishment. to go in wearing full body armor, multiple guns, and smoke grenades is something someone who planned this attack would do. to be in a right mind that im going to wear a gas mask and and armor so i dont get hurt is thinking in the right mind. he also had his apartment rigged with explosives and a bunch of homemade grenades in there...also in the right mind. im sorry i hate when people do the insanity plea with something like this when all signs point to per-meditated.

...If the judge accepts the new plea, Holmes would be sent to the state mental hospital, where doctors would determine whether he was insane at the time of the July 20 shootings.
how the heck can they do that? they cant travel back in time and evaluate him the morning of...

I'm still not sold on the idea that capital punishment should not apply to the insane. Justice is justice in my opinion.

This is simply a "stall and delay" tactic by his defense attorneys. I believe that he will ultimately be convicted as guilty but that it will take much longer than expected and because of that, this trial will be much more expensive to prosecute. But trial attorneys would never run up their hours simply to increase their billable hours would they???

In my way of thinking, anyone who kills innocent children is not right in the head. That doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing or didn't know right from wrong. He'd better have the best legal team on the planet to escape what's coming to him.

I think, in the long run, it won't make any difference. With the liberal governor and legislature currently in control of Colorado, any death sentence would probably be commuted to life anyway.
