    Need suggestions for next gun

Hey guys, new member here. I want to buy another gun mainly for an alternative carry. I already have a ruger lcp, glock 23c, and a s&w shield on the way. I'm having trouble deciding what to get next and thought you guys might be of help. The guns on my mind at the moment are the xds, xdm3.8c, or a s&w 442. What do you guys think of these? Is there a gun that should be on my list that isn't?

First, welcome to DC! These are all good guns. Have you had the opportunity to shoot any of them? That would be me suggested first step. If you don't know anybody who owns these models you may want to see if there is a range nearby where you can rent them for an afternoon. I'm not a fan of buying guns that I haven't shot. Shooting them first will allow me to eliminate some possibilities. I like to know what I'm getting.

Prpeare for an onslaught of opinions and numbers...... this is like asking what is the best hollow point bullet.... or the best brand of amm.... or the best holster....

Since you dont have a wheelgun, I will say get a ruger LCR .38+p.... Super smooth DOA trigger, excellent handling characteristics, super accurate, and it smells nice too. :) My LCR is one of my most carried guns right now and it is awesome.

You could always get a .357 sig barrel for the glock essentially giving you another gun. Of those mentioned I own the xds myself and love it but if your not used to shooting .45 it will take getting used to. I have owned 3 1911s still own one so I was accustomed to it but if your not the recoil can cause ftf/fte.

Taurahe: The more opinions the better, sometimes. Haha. Rocking glock: I've thought about getting a 9mm barrel but I could never fully commit. I own a 1911 and love it but I'm not sure how a 45 will be in such a small package.

Welcome from Tennessee.......the "Patron State of Shootin' Stuff!"

I like what your battery of guns has in it already. For your next purchase might I suggest a Ruger SP101? They are without a doubt the strongest 5-Shooter on the market, and you get the advantage of the 357/38 ammunition combination. Having a stout snub gun in your stable is always wise.

I have to agree, the SP101 is a pretty sweet carry piece.......

LOL. I'm more than willing to take your word for it. I love my LCR but I can't say I've ever smelled it.

I'm liking the lcr a lot now. I'm going to try to find a range that rents one and see how that goes.
