    Ammo avialable

I went into a store today that has got ammo out of the yazoo. They had over 40 boxes of the Winchester White box in .45acp and told me if I needed more, all I had to do was ask and it would be there for me overnight.

OK, cheap it isn't. Yet at $38 a box, it is not pricey when considered in the general scheme of things. Just below .78 per round.

They also have SD ammo of all sorts.

My quesiton is why do they have it and how do they get it when nobody else can get it?

    Your input would be?

Might be due to their distributor. One of the local shops here was on a waiting list for ammo. They ordered some guns from the distributor (even though they had no ammo to sell for them), and were told they would be bumped-up the list because of their firearms order. That would be the only reason I could think of.

Keep an eye on gunbot.net and have it sound an alarm when it hits a price you set for it. Naturally the computer must be up and running and a browser open on that page for it to work. Not sure how it does it but it catches most the price fluctuations.

There has been 9mm available for less than 35 cents per round on Gunbot nearly every day for the past 2 weeks. You can get it for 40 cents per round just about any time. Obviously the price bumps up a bit when you add shipping. Ammo is out there.

As I type, Midway has some Winchester 230 gr .45ACP FMJ for 49 cents per round. 6 others with various offerings at 50 cents per round.

every time I receive the alert, I immediately go to the site listed with the "cheap" ammo. They are already out of stock by the time I get the alert. Ya gotta be quick.

I've been slow on the mouse a few times too, but I'm also seeing stuff lasting longer out there. Saw some cheap 9mm from Cabela's stay up for a couple hours. I checked on it a few times just to see if it was still valid it showed in stock each time.

Admittedly, it will be nice to walk into Wally World on the way to the range and get what you need, but for now, this will do.

Somebody's got to get it. Being a large market, distributed ammo and other gear, some will and some won't, from time to time, in times of "over-sold" situations. It's how things work.

Depends somewhat on the distributor, as well, as to what their policies are on how much and whom. Rumor has it that many shops simply can't get mondo shipments of anything, these days, as it's all being parceled out amongst all shops on the list. Plus, there are regional differences. Plus, not all shops are going to order stuff from the same sources on all things.

I've seen on some sites (local) people trying to sell ammo ..... higher than the norm and lower than the gouging prices, and no-one is biting at all. They can't sell it. Lots of folks now waiting for supply to catch up and prices to go down, and not buying any in the meantime.... won't support those the gouging.

Funny you should say this. Today I bought 250 rounds of .40 cal ammo because it was priced right and the shipping was very reasonable and I don't even own a .40 right now but know I will at some point in the not-too-distant future.
