Importance of Safety
I got this photo from a friend of a friend. It shows the importance of following the safety rules all the time.
1. Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
2. Keep your finger off the trigger.
3. Point gun in safe direction all the time
4. Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy. This includes your own body parts.
Slightly different angle and that could have been much worse - looks like the 5th metacarpal just survived destruction!
Remember all rules but IMO above all rule #2.
I wonder how he managed to get the camera after being spun around and knocked down like that.
I look at that and think how lucky that guy was. He'll have one heck of a scar, but he didn't lose anything........ Hope he learned his lesson.
Yes, situations like that are a result of not following the four rules of firearms handling.
Yes, a heard lesson to learn. We all need reminding from time to time.
Why the heck would you break down a firearm with the magazine still in it?
And why wasn't it locked back?
Geez. Man, the only pistol that I have to pull the trigger to take it down is the Glock. And buddy, you can be assured that it's unloaded when I take it down (pull the trigger).
I learned in life two things must happen for a firearm to go bang:
1. It's chambered
2. You pull the trigger
Other than that, I've never found a firearm that went bang if numbers 1 and 2 above aren't there.
I guess that some people have to learn the hard way, me, I prefer to see their lesson, and learn from it. Call me lazy but I'll take the easy way every time.
Can somebody shoot them self in the hand like that with a 9mm so I can compare wound channels with that .45?
......I'm not quite sure yet if I want a 9mm or a .45
thank you for your anticipated stupidity.
chunk of meat missing...
I'm only guessing, but I would assume there WAS a lesson learned there...
Fortunately, it was only a palm...
I highly doubt that the persons hand in the picture belongs to anyone here. (edited: that's what I get for trying to type fast)
It was posted to show how if you don't follow the rules, you too can be the proud owner of a nice devit in your hand also.
(not really sure how to take your post, I can assure you that the stupity shown in that picture doesn't belong to any of us).
I think Nesto was making a funny.
The parting shot, I think, meant something along the lines of: if anyone here is stupid enough to take me up on this request, thanks for being stupid enough to help me out.
Hey Nesto. Since a 9mm is about the size of a 38, just shrink the picture down to about 85% of its original size and you have it. :biggrin2:
That's a pretty good point Wayne. My guess is that it was probably a glock. The guy may have removed the magazine (without taking the round from the camber), gripped the slide with his weak hand to push it 1/4 of an inch, and pull the trigger to unlock the mechanism.
