The Reason You May Regret Having Bought That AR-15 Earlier This Year

.......The average price of an AR-15 has in recent weeks returned to the $800-$1,050 range, down from its all-time high of $2,500 (averaged), according to the gun blog The Truth About Guns.

.......“After the gun control scare earlier this year, demand for AR-15 rifles went through the roof. People were maxing out their credit cards on fears that America’s favorite firearm was about to be banned by the powers that be,” writes Nick Leghorn, the testing and reviews editor for the blog.

“This cleared the entire available stock of guns, and made manufacturers ramp up to meet demand.

.......“By now, everyone who ‘needed’ an AR-15 has found one. Even if they emptied their bank accounts to do it, they have their rifle,” the report continues.

“But with sales slowing down, the price of an AR-15 is cratering. People are no longer willing to buy at the inflated panic-level prices, and dealers are starting to discount the guns in order to clear their shelves,” it adds.

Time to pick up a couple new rifles... that way I'll be in a position to provide some to those that cannot find any to buy next time the price shoots through the roof.

I can tell you there is no regret in CT. Since our very restrictive new AWB took effect 4/5/13, unless you bought one before that time, it's unlikely you will own one in the near future. The only hope is if the pending lawsuits are successful.

Even our Walmart who hasn't had ammo for ever, had 3 AR's today from 800 to just over a grand.

Right after sandy hook, there were lots of ARs for sale on armslist. At that time, if a guy was selling whatever brand AR, it was probably as he described it. Ie Colt, S&W, etc.

Lately, I have seen lots of "Frankenguns" called a certain brand, but actually a mish mash of random gun parts. Over paying aint good. Over paying and getting some Frankengun, when you thought you were getting a good Colt, or Daniels Defense, would be devastating.

My single Sig M4 kept me good and well through out the craze so there wasn't a need to buy another one at the time. However, now that I'm seeing them back on the shelves and priced sanely, it might just be that time.

There's another "scare" coming. The liberty-haters are still above ground and focused on destroying what's left of the Constitution. We just don't know when that'll be. I imagine the next "Sandy Hook" won't be ignored, in this regard. It'll happen, sure as sunshine.

The cheap bushys are around 759-800.
The higher Quality ones are about where they should be .

This is the reason I build my ARs, the parts never shot up like the complete rifles. At least not where I bought from. I built a Daniel Defense upper on a Spikes lower for less than $1K, all with a Geisselle SSA-E trigger. Same price as a Bushy, but higher quality with a MUCH better trigger.

As a thought along these lines, anyone know much about the 80% lowers? The idea is interesting on several different levels but since I don't tend to machine metal on a regular basis I'm thinking it is beyond my grasp. Am I wrong?

If someone paid 2000.00 for one,and it was what they wanted, and they are happy, that's all that matters.
