considering you can make the material with the stuff from cold packs, it would be hard to regulate
the article fails to mention that in order to detonate said material, you need blasting caps (already regulated) or an impact at a sufficent velocity to impart enough energy to detonate the substance, a bullet.
    anything can be made unsafe.

I thought the whole reason Tannerite was popular for target is it WILL NOT start a fire. Is this true or an urban myth I mistakenly picked up as fact?

The FOP range here won't allow exploding targets so I don't use them kind of strange as I can shoot anything including water cooled machine guns but no explosives.

Just another way for the gooberment to limit our freedoms.

Banning it will take the fun right out of Top Shot.

During Counter Terrorism training I was taught to make many interesting things out of common easily acquired materials. This was hardly a "Tier One" unit AZ Nat Guard MP's. With the internet books like the Anarchist Cook Book etc. This Genie has long been out of the bottle and there is no realistic way it's going back in. Devote our efforts to something practical.

Next they will ban shooting bowling pins, old computer monitors and putting mentos in diet coke...

I've watched Tannerite videos and I do not believe it would spark a fire. Therefore these are merely scare tactics.

What's more I wasn't aware there were 5 other products similar to the original. It's totally possible Tannerite is not responsible.

Personally I've always felt it was radical tree hugger environmentalists or plain old pyro whack jobs starting these forest fires. Then again too it could be plain old careless civilians.

Some of you might recall the FBI's credibility in their lab results has come under scrutiny before. The FBI is not infallible.

The Feds have been after this stuff for a while. They need to build a case. Check back to this thread in a year, and I suspect the results will be less liberty for a small business owner.

I'm more concerned about guys with trucks full of fertilizer and diesel fuel.

When I was a kid, living in the sticks, I made my own exploding targets out of a full aluminum pop can full of gasoline and lit on fire. I'd shoot it with a hollow point and watch the fireball. Monumentally stupid. The type of stupid that would go viral on Youtube had it been invented.

Nevertheless, the memories bring a smile to my face.
