    300$ or less handgun

    I've recently purchased two tauruses and really can't find anything to complain about them. It got me to thinking, what other inexpensive but decent handguns are out there? I was looking more for higher caliber 9mm and up, what decent cheap handguns have you come across? Me not being a gun snob, I would like to stretch my funds as much as possible without purchasing garbage.

    Don't know much about most cheaper guns, but as far as 1911s go Rock Island makes a good cheap 45. More than $300 new I think, but a lot cheaper than most others.

    SCCY CPX-2 (CPX-1 has thumb safety if you'd prefer that) 9mm, 10 rounds. My CPX-2 is the two tone version though. They can be had for $240-300. I'd be hard pressed to say a bad thing about this pistol without lying.

    Heard good things about the cpx-2 and also Makarovs can be found in this price range and are a very solid gun.

    Bersa Thunder .380, FEG Hi-Power a few dollars more, CZ999 same.

    That CZ999 is getting good reviews. Machining is a little rough on the inside, but good on the outside. A cross beteen a SIG-Sauer P226 and a Walther P88. Might be worth a look for $350.

    there are many fantastic guns for less than 300...My truck gun is a RAPP440,Star,Makorovs,Tokerevs,EAA

    Think used. There are "sleepers" out there that are decent but not fancy. The Ruger P-series comes to mind I have seen them used around the $300 mark. Makarovs are another good solid choice. BTW, the Kel-Tec P-9 (my summer EDC) can be had for about $250. Bersas's are also good value as well.

    +1 for the CPX-2 for reliable, easily concealable, and affordable.

    For something bigger. Astra 357, they're S&W model 27 clones. The later model ones have the forcing cone recessed into the frame making their size closer to a 686. Great trigger, recessed cylinder, and pinned barrel for around $300. I haven't found the .44 mag version for that cheap yet though.
