    Gun Storage.

    Hello everyone!

Ok, so normally when I am storing my gun I just leave it in the holster and put it away (even after I clean it).
Now the question is is that a problem?
And normally it would be in leather, but i just got a kydex holster so will that make a difference?

    Thanks.

I think its best to take them out of the holster as moisture can be trapped in there.

The trouble with storing them in holsters is that they trap moisture, which increases your risk of getting a nice, rusty patch all over your formerly nice gun. I would recommend storing it outside the holster in the gun safe.

As long as your house is air conditioned no rust showing up on door knobs faucets or anything else your good to go just keep them lubed up. I use froglube an guns stay like new.

Kydex doesn't retain or attract moisture. Don't worry about it. It's the temperature change that attracts moisture to a gun.

Welcome here. I store my pistols/whatever (wheel guns and such) in the holsters - easier to grab and go.

So, I am the 'other school of thought on this'. I can eventually replace the weapon if for some reason holster storage ruins it - but have never seen that happen.

However, yes, you need to pay more attention to lube and love of the weapon, more often, when you choose this option.

Look - I don't buy firearms to wish that they appreciate in price. I buy them to use them.

If you do not live in a sandy place (LOL reference - those desert places that some people go to...) then keep it loved with lube! The holster will eventually absorb that love........... it takes time.

I'd rather have a 'not pretty' weapon that fires every time, than a pretty weapon that I have to go find when I need it............ just sayin.

I usually unholster mine in the safe. Although recently I have been leaving it in kydex. I don't see any problems doing so. Besides it's only sleeps there at night.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I store my holsters separate from my guns in the safe. The holsters live in the infamous "drawer of holsters".
