"New", actually new, 1911
Buying a modern production Colt 1911 was a new experience for me today. I sold a couple of antique rifles, and picked this up with some of my winnings. It was not what I intended to buy, but I can't say I'm anything but pleased with the decision.
My educated guess is that this plain vanilla Colt is going to shoot straight and produce copious quantities of smiles.
Probably wouldn't make a half bad commie killin' tool neither...

I wouldn't call the Wiley Clapp Government a plain vanilla Colt ! Love the look of that slide, its perfect. I'm looking forward to the range report with plenty of pictures (PLEASE!)

I felt the green funk of envy when I just read the post's title. Now I'm positively "ate up" with it.
Very good choice! Nice close up study of the markings. Good ol' Colt. They're still "automatics." Not "auto-loader." Not "semi-auto pistol." Not any of this tortuous, contrived terminology. Just a good ol' .45 automatic.

You should be pleased.
You have the standard. What every other 1911 is based on. IT'S A COLT!
I also like that you got the series 70. I'm planning for one to show up under the Christmas tree this year...

Very nice. Shoot it well and enjoy it.

Congratulations, they're sweet pistols.
I also like the fact that they have the healthy Rampant Colt, and not the blind, deaf, anorexic Rampant Colt.

Congrats! That is a fine looking specimen of a Colt you have there. By the way, I never felt there was anything plain about Colt, and neither should you!

The Wiley Clapp model is a great find. You will love it. It is one of my favorite 1911s.
