    Springfield XDS RECALL

    Springfield Armory ReCall Registration

Sorry to hear it, but at the same time I feel vindicated. They ONLY unintentional discharge I have ever had with a gun was one of these. Loading the gun and did not have my finger anywhere near the trigger. Racked it and boom right through my bed. I have been kicking myself ever since because I take gun safety very seriously. I feel much better today after seeing this. I did call Springfield about it and was told that without the grip safety AND trigger safety depressed it was impossible to fire the gun. Apparently that is not so true with this gun. I sold it less than a week later.
    Be safe.

Don't they know they're supposed to keep it hushed up, deny everything, and refuse to talk about it?

I guess I did, however, at the time I assumed it was me and not the gun.

Yeah badbull...I remember that discussion and how everyone had you tried and convicted. I hope at least some of the "all knowing" on this site proffer up at least a small semblance of apology. Let's see if any are big enough to say they were wrong.

If I had to guess, there have only been a small number of AD's that caused this recall.

SA is doing this as a precaution. Why take the risk of it happening again...just issue a recall and take care of any potential future problems.

Me thinks it was/is a serious latent design flaw. SA put out a doozey of an announcement - the gun might fire when you load it, and it might fire twice when you pull the trigger. So I think it's more than a precaution - it's a "let's get this fixed before someone gets killed and we have to write a check for multi-millions and kill the entire XDS product line."

I think your guess is right - there may have been a very small number - but with today's design practices, one is infinitely too many.

I am really glad this notice came when it did. I almost traded for one and low and behold, it was right smack in the middle of the serial number recall. Actually when I sent the notice to the seller, he immediately done an OS!, and replied that what I was about to buy was actually in the recall. He deleted the listing (good man!) and said he would deal with it personally with SA.

I think I will keep this guy on my Go-To list of trusted sellers.

    Be well all

Hopefully they have recall insurance, and hopefully that policy covers increased labor costs to fix the problem. I sure hope they are bringing in extra help, don't want to be without my gun too long.

Or not. How many AD's happened and were not reported because it was assumed it was the person and not the gun. I have been kicking myself ever simce thinkging it was me. SA was 100% sure their gun would not do this when I spoke to them. They told me no way, no how, both the grip and trigger safety must be depressed for the gun to fire, must be a safety issue they said.....
Wonder if they will buy me a new bed?

The bottom line is they are taking care of it, making it easy to send affected units back to them, and the only unknown is how long of a turnaround time it will be.

I'm hoping a couple of weeks but expecting a month. Probably the best way to not be let down.
